ABOUT US

It all started back in 2014 out of a converted shipping container in Elephant & Castle. The idea was pretty simple: build a proper, welcoming spot for live sports and good beer without all the sterile, rowdy nonsense of standard mega-sports-bars. Fast forward through a name change inspired by cult-hero striker Yakubu and his legendary chant: and A Herd of Yaks was born.

Today, our venues across London (from Elephant Park and Wembley out to Deptford) are built around the same basic rule: shape the bar around the local neighborhood, not the other way around.

We line the taps with 15+ constantly rotating craft beers alongside classic lagers, stack the fridges high with independent cans, pull together solid cocktails, and rotate street-food kitchens so there's always something new on the menu. Whether you're here to scream at the screens for a huge match day, catch live music and local DJs, or just hide out in a corner with a pint, the doors are open.

WHY feed the yak?

yakubu 1920 celebrating a goal

The name is a direct nod to cult-hero Nigerian striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni—nicknamed "The Yak"—and the famous terrace chant that followed him around Premier League clubs like Portsmouth, Middlesbrough, and Everton: "Feed The Yak and he will score!"

It fits the whole vibe of the bar: a love letter to football culture and cult heroes
